First, lets discuss the Brownlee – Honore Neighborhood.  This neighborhood’s eastern boundary follows an irregular stream system path and utilizes the Red River as its western boundary. Its southern boundary is primarily defined by the I-220 Loop. As one of most popular choices for construction of the newest Bossier City apartments, the Brownlee – Honore Neighborhood features a wide variety of shopping, especially on Airline Highway. Such retail destinations include Lowe’s Home Improvement, Home Depot, WalMart, Target, Best Buy, Academy Sports, and a host of smaller shops and grocery markets. Most importantly, as the premier shopping destination in the region, Pierre-Bossier Mall is merely minutes south on Airline Highway. Also within this neighborhood, abundant eateries include Mcalister’s Deli, Strawns Eat Shop, Starbucks, and Two Johns Steak & Seafood.  Demographically, this neighborhood is home to a high percentage of families and singles who appreciate being convenient to the sites, sounds and employment opportunities of central Bossier City and downtown Shreveport without being crowded by those high density areas.  Having a car is a must and traffic in the Brownlee – Honore Neighborhood can be a challenge ... especially along Airline Highway during morning and evening rush hour. 

Area schools in the Brownlee – Honore Neighborhood include Legacy Elementary, Plantation Park Elementary, Apollo Elementary, Greenacres Middle School, and the prominent, Airline High School.

To the north of the Brownlee – Honore Neighborhood, the Dukedale Neighborhood comprises scenic woodlands winding northward from northern Bossier City into neighboring Benton, Louisiana.

Located in the eastern-most portion of Bossier City, the Fosters Neighborhood is in a wooded area that is bounded to its south, roughly at Range Road (south of I-20), and bounded on its southwestern side by Airline Drive, and on its northwestern quadrant by Swan Lake Road. To the east, the neighborhood is bounded by Red Chute Bayou, and it has a northern border along Willow Chute Bayou.

The northern 75 to 80 percent of the Fosters Neighborhood is within the North Bossier – North Airline – Benton Section. Meanwhile, the southernmost portion (20 to 25 percent) of this neighborhood is within the East Bossier Section as described in another portion of this article.

Real estate purchase prices within the Fosters Neighborhood are higher than 87 percent of similar neighborhoods in Louisiana. As a result, Bossier City apartment rental rates in the Fosters Neighborhood have been reported to be higher (84 percent) than apartments for other neighborhoods of Shreveport and Bossier City.

Although retail options are limited in eastern Bossier City, its proximity to Pierre Bossier Mall makes shopping options extensive and convenient.

One “claim to fame” of this neighborhood is Harrah’s Louisiana Downs and Casino. This venue boasts high quality horse racing. Additionally, this portion of the Fosters Neighborhood features a substantial number of dining options as well as 1,300 slot machines in the casino.

The Fosters Neighborhood features quality Bossier Parrish schools such as Stockwell Place Elementary, W.T. Lewis Elementary School, and Cope Middle School. The neighborhood is also the home of the Northwest Louisiana State School and Bossier Parish Community College.
